Alekos Hofstetter

Born in 1967 in Bonn, Alekos Hofstetter grew up in Brussels, Bangkok und Bonn. From 1986 until 1989 he studied philosophy at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University, Bonn. After abandoning his studies he moved to Dresden in 1989 where in the same year, he co-founded the artist group BEWEGUNG NURR (BN).

In 1994 he was awarded with a working grant by the Foundation Kulturfonds, Berlin and finally moved to Berlin in 1996, where he lives ever since. Between 1996 and 1999 he worked as a co-curator at the Dutch-German Foundation KUNSTRUIMTE BERLIN. In 2003 he initiated the artist group SYNTHETIC FORCES  and received a scholarship by the Else Heiliger Fund, Berlin. In 2007 he was awarded with a working grant by the Dr. Robert and Lina Thyll-Dürr Foundation, Elba, Italy and in 2008 received a working grant by the Künstlerhaus Lukas, Ahrenshoop, Germany.

Since 2011 Alekos Hofstetter work together with Florian Göpfert, a artist from dresden on the architectural art project Tannhäuser Tor.
